SAYHUSH FIELD NOTES

Aqua Voice vs Sayhush: voice editing or a focused Mac draft?

By · Reviewed

Choose Aqua Voice to investigate documented voice editing and vocabulary tools. Try Sayhush for a focused Mac dictation workflow with prepaid minutes. Sayhush does not offer Aqua’s selected-text Edit Mode or its broader platform coverage.

Two different expectations after speaking

This comparison is written by Sayhush using Aqua’s official documentation and our own product implementation. We have not run a head-to-head accuracy test. The useful distinction is what the app should do: insert your new draft, or interpret an instruction about existing text.

Editing an existing selection

Aqua documents selecting text and speaking a change to rewrite that selection. Sayhush has no equivalent instruction-based editor. If you say “make this shorter” during a normal Sayhush recording, do not expect it to rewrite a document. For Sayhush, speak the replacement words you actually want and review the result in the destination editor.

Vocabulary and customization

Aqua’s guide includes Dictionary, Replacements and Custom Instructions. Sayhush’s released customization concerns recording controls, language of the interface and history retention; it does not include a saved personal vocabulary feature. A team with many specialist terms should test actual terms and consider whether dedicated vocabulary controls matter more than a simpler recording surface.

Platform and interaction

Aqua’s guide links desktop and mobile downloads. Sayhush currently supports Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later. Its default shortcut is Control–Option–Space, tapped once to start and again to stop. Pause and Resume are in the floating dock. The app language is separate from automatic speech-language detection.

Cost and a fair trial

Sayhush includes 30 free minutes each calendar month; prepaid packs cost $5 for 300 minutes or $12 for 1,000, with no expiration of purchased minutes. Check Aqua’s current pricing directly before purchase. Test new text and selected-text behavior separately, recording the manual edits needed for each. Do not compare a rewrite result against a literal transcript without stating which output you wanted.

Who should choose which

Start with Aqua if editing instructions, vocabulary controls or broader device coverage are required. Try Sayhush if you want personal Mac drafting, accept cloud recognition and prefer buying minutes when needed. Neither recommendation is an independent performance ranking. The right decision is the product that produces an acceptable draft in your actual editor.
