SAYHUSH FIELD NOTES

Dictation works but text will not paste on Mac: what to check

By · Reviewed

Separate transcription from insertion

If Sayhush has recognized your words but they do not appear in the destination, the microphone and transcription connection may already be working. Check insertion permissions and focus before changing your account or connection settings. Copy the latest transcript first if you need to preserve it.

Check the destination

Use a normal editable field for your first test, such as a new note. Secure password fields are intentionally excluded. Some custom editors do not expose the accessibility information needed to identify the target. A successful test in one editor does not guarantee every field in another app will behave the same way.

Keep the original field selected

Sayhush remembers the field and selection where dictation began. Moving the cursor, selecting another range, switching apps, or closing the document can make automatic insertion unsafe. It then leaves the text available for manual copying instead of placing it in an unrelated field. Click the intended field before starting and keep it selected until completion.

Review Accessibility access

Open macOS System Settings, then Privacy & Security and Accessibility. Check that the installed Sayhush has access. Microphone permission alone does not allow insertion. Return to Sayhush Settings and refresh permission status. Do not reset all of your Mac's privacy permissions to troubleshoot one app.

Check which app is running

Quit duplicate or older Sayhush copies and launch /Applications/Sayhush.app. Updates should replace that copy. A change from an older development signing identity can require macOS to approve the installed version again; normal updates use the same Developer ID identity. Never enter an API key in response to a network failure.

Recover and report

Open the Sayhush menu-bar cloud, choose Copy Latest Transcript, and paste it yourself. If the issue repeats, send support the app version, macOS version, destination app, and exact error text. Remove sensitive transcript content from screenshots. This information distinguishes an editor limitation from a permission or application bug.
