SAYHUSH FIELD NOTES

How to dictate an email draft on Mac without sending it too soon

By · Reviewed

Dictate the body of an email into a draft, then review it before sending. Sayhush inserts text into a supported field; it does not choose recipients, attach files or send the message for you.

Start with the purpose

Before recording, decide what the reader needs to know and what you want them to do. A simple outline is context, request and next step. For a scheduling message, that might be why you are writing, two proposed times, and a request to confirm. This keeps a spoken draft from becoming a long explanation the recipient has to decode.

Use an empty draft or a note

Create a draft and click its message body. Keep recipient fields separate from your speech test. If you have not tested insertion in that editor, begin in a disposable note, review the result, and paste it into the draft yourself. Different mail editors expose text fields differently. This workflow is general drafting guidance, not a promise that every email app’s composer supports automatic insertion.

Speak in complete thoughts

Tap the Sayhush shortcut, wait for Listening, and speak a few sentences. Use the dock’s Pause control if you need to look up a date, then resume when ready. Avoid dictating a recipient address or a reference number from memory. The goal is a useful first draft, not a flawless performance. Stop when the thought is complete and leave the original field selected until insertion finishes.

Try this original example

A suggested draft is: “Thanks for reviewing the proposal. I can discuss the changes on Tuesday afternoon or Thursday morning. Please let me know which works better, and I will send an invitation.” After insertion, replace those relative days with exact dates if the message could be read later. This is an illustrative writing example, not a captured transcript or a claim about punctuation accuracy.

Review the parts that change meaning

Check the recipient and reply-all list, names, dates, time zones, amounts, links and attachments. Read every negative statement carefully: “can” and “cannot” create very different commitments. Remove repeated phrases and add paragraph breaks in the editor. If you said an instruction such as “make that warmer,” verify whether it appeared literally; Sayhush is not an email-writing agent that executes every spoken instruction.

Send with a separate action

Read the message once as the recipient would. Does it state the action and deadline clearly? Confirm that the file you mentioned is actually attached. Only then use the email app’s Send control. Keeping recording, review and sending as separate actions gives you a clear place to catch mistakes without making dictation feel like a command that immediately contacts someone.

Your quick checklist

  1. Choose the purpose and requested action.
  2. Click the draft body or use a disposable note.
  3. Dictate a short message and stop.
  4. Check recipients, facts and attachments.
  5. Send separately in the email app.
