VoiceInk is a candidate for people seeking local models and transcription customization. Sayhush is a cloud dictation app with a floating recording dock and prepaid minutes. This is a first-party Sayhush comparison, using VoiceInk’s official site at tryvoiceink.com; it is not a hands-on benchmark.
Confirm which product you are evaluating
The VoiceInk referenced here is the product at tryvoiceink.com. Its official site describes local speech models, open-source code, custom words, Smart Replace and AI enhancement features. It also presents Mac and iOS products. Check the relevant platform and feature configuration when evaluating it; a name match alone is not enough to identify the product or its processing behaviour.
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to see all columns.
| Priority | Evaluation question |
|---|---|
| Local recognition | Which model and processing settings will you use? |
| Names and vocabulary | Do custom words or replacement rules solve your actual examples? |
| Multiple devices | Does the purchased product cover your required platform? |
| Occasional Mac dictation | Does Sayhush’s free allowance and pack model fit your usage? |
Separate transcription from enhancement
A locally recognized transcript and a later AI enhancement are different processing stages. Review the provider and settings used for the exact VoiceInk configuration you choose. Sayhush currently provides cloud transcription without a rewrite stage. If custom vocabulary or automatic text replacement is central to your workflow, evaluate those requirements directly rather than assuming every dictation app includes them.
Try the draft controls, not only the first sentence
Sayhush’s dock is centred near the bottom of the screen. Tap the shortcut to start, pause when you need time to think, then resume or stop to insert. You can select hold mode instead. Try composing a complete paragraph with an interruption. That reveals more about fit than a short recognition demo and does not require claiming one app is universally faster.
Check platform and network limits
Sayhush supports Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later and requires internet for recognition. It does not currently provide an iPhone app, local models or audio-file import. If any of those are required, treat them as selection criteria before spending time on a detailed comparison of dock appearance or shortcut preferences.
Compare what you are purchasing
Use VoiceInk’s official checkout for current license scope and price; no unverified license price is reproduced here. Sayhush includes 30 free minutes each month, with $5/300-minute and $12/1,000-minute paid packs that do not expire. Compare required features, total purchase cost and expected use. A lower unit price is not automatically a smaller upfront commitment.
Choose after a vocabulary-focused trial
Test a few names and terms you actually use, with fictional details where possible. Record what needs correction and whether a customization feature changes the result. Compare the finished draft, not the most flattering example. VoiceInk merits evaluation for its documented local and customization features; Sayhush merits a trial for its online tap/pause workflow. This page reports no measured accuracy winner.
