Prepaid minutes can suit someone who dictates occasionally or has uneven writing needs. A subscription may make more sense for heavy, regular use or a specific feature bundle. Neither model is automatically cheapest. Start by tracking how many minutes you actually dictate in a typical week.

What Sayhush plans mean
Sayhush includes 30 free minutes each calendar month. Pro packs are $5 for 300 minutes and $12 for 1,000 minutes. They are prepaid purchases with no recurring subscription or automatic top-ups. Paid minutes do not expire, and free minutes are used first.
Work out the unit cost
The 300-minute pack is five hours: $5 divided by 300 is about 1.67 cents per minute. The 1,000-minute pack is 16 hours and 40 minutes: $12 divided by 1,000 is 1.2 cents per minute. These are unit costs before applicable tax, not the amount charged at checkout for one minute. You buy the whole pack upfront.
Account for irregular months
If you need 60 paid minutes after the free allowance in a month, a $5 pack would have 240 paid minutes left after that use. It would not charge only $1. Unused credits carry forward, but the monthly free allowance refreshes rather than accumulating. Paused time does not send audio. Usage is measured from audio duration and rounded up per recording segment.
Check the alternatives fairly
Some competing tools have free tiers, subscriptions, annual discounts, lifetime licenses, or local-model options. Compare the billing period, fair-use rules, supported devices, offline processing, privacy requirements, and editing features. Do not treat an annual plan's monthly equivalent as a month-to-month price. A free option may be sufficient for your needs.
Try before choosing
Use a short representative task: a message, a note, and a longer paragraph. Check recognition for your languages, microphone, and background noise, then check insertion in your actual apps. Sayhush currently supports Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 14 or newer and needs internet access. A low unit price does not compensate for a product that does not fit your workflow.
